Two Car MVA with entrapments

'Yeah, you never gotten close enough haha and actually talked to her much.'
*I turn to Moon.*
'I did kinda held off on the tows in a way. They're not going to be on scene, just a block away until the investigator is done.'
*PEMS arrives as well as PPD right behind it. I walk over to the officers and the EMt's and let them know what happened. They tell me that they're going to take care of it and I go over there with them. One of the officers talk to her for a total of 10 minutes and she then gets out, gets put in handcuffs and as Linda pulls up, one officer goes with the husband and one officer goes with the wife leaving the two other officers in an agreement that they take each others car. PEMS leaves. I then walk over to Angus.*
'Hold on for a bit. I don't know if Linda needs to talk to the man.
*I walk over to Linda.*
'Hey. Talk to Moon, he has most of the info from his point of view. You wanted to talk with the patients in the ambulance?'
*I turn to Mitch who isn't far off.*
'Mitch, get our uhh cones up from off of the floor and repack the hose. We should be able to clear soon.'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, CI-1 is on scene and and two tows are staged a block away. Our job is done here and one patient is still here. The report will be sent via EAT Can we clear?"

"CI-1 on scene. COPA can you get an FD officer to be my liaison and meet me at my car?"

*I see zack pull up and I head on over and shake his hand through the window*
'How ya doing i'm the one that requested you for the observation I made. When we got here I noticed that passenger of the cobalt trying to hide alcohol bottles under the seat or thats what they appeared to be I left it alone and waited for you plus we just got her out. She was being very combative PPD had to remove her from the vehicle. Last I heard the driver of the cobalt admitted he only had one beer. He's in the back of that ambulance appears stable there not taking him anywhere till you talk to him. The reason we called you is because the driver of the explorer when we pulled him out was in critical condition unresponsive and on the edge of death. I haven't got a report if he's going to make it yet or not and as well both know just cause he's looking good now 3 days down the road something may happen and it could be because of this...So yeah thats the sum up of why I dragged you over here any questions for me?'

"Sure Hannahan."

I pick up all the cones and stack them on top of each other. I run and put them back in their right locker. I walk to the crosslay and disconnect it from the small pump on board, I them proceed to fold it and place it back in it's area.

"Done Hannahan, Anything else?"

'Hey Moon I think you made the right call. Did EMS do a breathalyzer? Because If hes saying he had only one beer chances are he did a hell of a lot more, Beers are like chips you cant have just one. Any way how old do you think he is? And the Female... Any idea why she was acting combative? Find anything interesting in the car? And Since EMS took her did she leave anything to ID her? Wallet, Purse, Anything?'

'Havent had a chance to go through the car left that for you like I said we just now got her out. She's the mans husband so she's probably just trying to protect him since she's the one I saw hiding the bottles. He's early 30's late 20's and I'm unsure on the breathalyser.'

'Thanks Moon, Anything i should know about the other car? And did the Female hurt any of you guys? If she did that's an arrest for assaulting a Public Safety Official.'

'Id talk to PPD on that one there the ones that finally got her out and PEMS has her now.'

*I walk up to Russo.*
'Hey. Uhhh, I didn't smell alcohol on his breath and I didn't see anyone do a breathalyzer test but PEMS already left with the woman. She'll probably be taken to Kitson since its closest to here. Can't you interrogate her there?'
*I look back at the man who seems calmer than he was before. I turn to Mitch.*
'Nope Mitch, that's everything.'
"Rescue 1 to COPA, report will be sent via EAT in 2 minutes. Can we clear?"
(We may not leave just now but I want permission so we could just go after we're done.)
*I talk into the mic while looking both ways and walking back to the truck. I open my door and get in. I pull the EAT towards me and start my report.*

Summary: Rescue 1 arrived to find the blue cobalt up against a pole with the ford explorer's driver unconscious. PPD was promptly called for scene control and the driver of the black explorer was transferred to the hospital. The driver of the blue cobalt was extricated and put into an ambulance but has remained on scene for CE-1 to interrogate. Inside of the blue cobalt, Firefighter Moon Cressler spotted a beer bottle under the passenger's prompting the request for CE-1. Equipment was then cleared up and CE-1 has taken over the scene.

Comments: Everyone followed directions very well. There was some confusion in the begininng but next time, we'll give the victims names so they can be easily recognized and the call will go smoother. Other than that, the call went fine.

*I get back out of the truck, take my gloves off and go over to Moon.*
'Good job Moon and you too Mitch. Hopefully we'll get a fire call next time.'

'if you want a fire call i think your at the wrong station there lt.'

'No. I don't think so. I just think we'll be rescuing the firefighters trapped. We'll be more like the Rescue's in NY.'
*I think back to the day I rode with R3 in NY and then I snap back to reality.*
'I hope we're almost done here.'

(( I still need a clarification who the hell I have in my ER. Is he the unconscious one? If so it wasn't noted in the run sheet, neither was possible head trauma. ))

(Doug and Jamie should give you a report of the person hopefully. He was unconscious and not responsive to any stimuli from what I saw.)

(( Correct me if I'm wrong here, but was the guy just load and go? No vitals taken or treatment administered? I'm not trying to drag anyone through the mud here, but this is very much sub-par on the medical side. No IV stared, no oxygen. No pulseox to determine if the unconscious man is getting enough oxygen, no BP readings or palpation to check for significant internal bleeding, and no use of stethoscope to listen for pneumo- or hemothorax or cardiac tamponade.

For the future, someone needs to take command on the medical side of things and see that these things are done. ))

*I pull up onscene and park next to the driver side of the rescue. I then roll down my window and wait for one of the rescue guys to come over.*

*I see the chief giving me look like he wants me to go talk to him and I think to myself why doesn't he get his lazy a$$ out and come talk to me....but I decide to walk over*
'whats up there chief'

'hey any of you guys get hurt from te combative patient?'

* look over at the EAT to check the status of the fire*

'negative none of us chief she wasn't physically combative just refused to be helped otu of the car and treated.'

'oh okay gotcha. I heard about it wrong then. Well you guys like your first call on the rescue? How does that thing ride?'

'low and slow it's like a Cadillac'

'well that's not too bad.'

'didn't feel a single bump were riding in style now'

'Thats awesome. How fast you get that thing up to?'

'not sure mitch was driving I was in the back haven't had time to talk about it yet.'

'Ah gotcha. Well hopefully you guys can clear soon. I'll letcha go back to what you were doing.'

*I check the report from the accident and I look up what PFD and TVFD are up to.*

(I'll have Mitch or the senior officer to look after that if I can or remind them at least. Missed a lot of things on this call, mostly medical though.)
*I see the chief and wave then look back at the crash. I nod my head and wait to be cleared.*
"Rescue 1 to COPA, did you copy my last transmission?"

'Hey Matt, I'll sort out traffic, you and Russo handle investigations, yeah?' I say to Matt as I park up the car in a fend-off blocking the road so traffic can't pass. I jump out and pop the trunk, pressing a button to turn on the rear roof and director bar lights as I do, so we can be seen. I grab cones and block the road with them, putting a ROAD CLOSED sign there as well so no-one can get through.

'Alright will do'

'Ruzzo what do you need me to do?'

*I hear Lt go over the radio and I go to grab my mic and wait a second and radio them.*

"DCF1 to R1, you guys can clear once you are packed up since the scene's been handed over to traffic."

*I then look up at the crash to see just what's going on and think to myself that Rescue 1 probably being our newest unit might get beaten up the most on much it's used.*

I head over to the other side and set up the cones and signs the same there, so the road is blocked off again. I signal for the queued up drivers to turn back, which they do grudgingly, probably swearing at us, I laugh and head back to our car, shaking my head. I see the Chief's car and head over to ask some stuff.
'Hey Chief.' I say leaning on the car. 'Your boys clearing off?' I ask.

'Hey Linda Can you get pictures of both vehicles for documentation purposes? Ill talk to the drunk.'
*I grab the breathalyzer and walk over the ambulance. I approach the medics and introduce myself*
'Hey im Zach Russo the Collision Investigator. Is it ok if talk to him for a few minutes?'

"DCF1, Rescue 1 copies. We're clearing and back in service at station 1."
'Lets go guys.'
*I jump into the officers side of the truck and hop in. I then hop in and close the door. I take off my helmet and vest, roll up the vest and put it in the side pocket of the door.*
'Lets go to station 1 for a minute. I fogot some things there.'

*I grab my helmet that was left by EMS before the rolled and put it back on my nogin and put the extra one away then I hop in the rear and shut the door behind me and crank up the heat*

'We're left on scene clearance then.' I mutter slightly annoyed as I see the wreckage left from Rescue cutting the people out of the cars, and the crash in general. I see Russo and Linda dealing with their investigations and head out to open a gap in the cones for the Rescue to leave through, and wave to the driver about where to go.

'well thats the tow truck drivers job to clean it up.'

I pull my phone out of the truck just before we leave and call Michael. "Hey Mate, I've got my updated patient condition. BP was 90/70, I added a I.V and didn't admin any drugs. I also put him on oxygen. No signs of internal bleeding on palpation. Just thought I'd clear that up. Let me know what happens to him."

I then take my turnout jacket off and drive the Rescue to station 1 because Hannahan wants to get something.

"Ask away."

I walk over to the magnum and get the camera. Then walk over and start taking picutures of both cars and where the beer bottle was found.

*I wave buy to the traffic guys as I pull off from the scence. I then drive towards home listening to the scanner for PFD.*

I wave back as McEvoy drives away, and the tow trucks turn up on scene. I head over to them as they park their trucks just outside the traffic cones, and turn on their ambers. As I move the cones to allow them through, the rear driver rolls down his window.
'Hey, what's the deal here?' He says to me.
'Two cars damaged, just a pick up job.' I reply.
'Good stuff, we'll grab 'em when you boys finish.' I nod and he parks up inside the cordon, as I close the road off again. I head back to the magnum and grab a brush from the rear and lean it on the car, incase we end up having to clean the road of debris.

*I jump in the back of the ambulance and sit down*
'Ok i'm Officer Zach Russo and since your are suspected of DUI im going to ask you to blow through this until you hear a beep'
'Ok'
*I pull the breathalyzer out of my pocket and he blows a 0.13*
'Your under arrest for DUI'
*I read him his rights and ask him for his information. I read his license information.*

*He slurs somthing. I turn to O'Reilly*
'Oh yeah what the hell was i thinking, hes drunk. Ill be back in a few. Mind if i cuff him to the gurney?'

"Go ahead."

Seeing the tow drivers getting out of their trucks to check the cars they'll be carrying I check out some of the details of the report on the EAT in our car. I click it off and then climb back out of the car and start to sweep some of the debris blocking the road to the side, so that no-one damages their vehicle on it.
'Hey Matt, nearly got all the info?' I ask, shouting over to him as the tow drivers start getting their hooks ready, but help to sweep up some of the rubbish whilst they wait.

*I walk back to my car and pick up the radio*
"CI-1 Can you run a warrant check"
"Go ahead CI-1"
"John Peluso" *I Spell out phonetically*
"No active warrants do you need priors?"
"Not unless there traffic related"
"Im seeing one for reckless driving back in 2008"
"Thank you COPA"
*I walk back to the ambulance*
'Ok your under arrest for DUI'
*I motion a PPD Sergent over*
'Hey Sarge can you have one of your guys escort him to the hospital?'
'Sure, Need anything else?'
'Yeah, Have the other occupant admitted to the psyche ward for acting aggressively and run her for warrants. See how that turns out and if the driver in the other car checks out call my cell phone immediately. Either way can you keep me updated?'
*I hand him my card and thank him.*
"CI-1 I have the driver of the car arrested and the other occupant is going to be evaluated for mental stability. Both are in custody at the time and i will be talking to the driver in the future. CI-1 Show me on stand by in case im needed at the accident involving the ERT Vehicle"

As Matt returns to our car with the photos and such, I head over to Zach's Crown Vic.
'Hey Zach, evidence is on the front seat. Also, get the report filled in for this one, we'll get the Step Van one done later.' I shout, dropping the plastic bag on the passenger seat. I head back to the car, and sweep away a bit more of the damaged cars to the side of the road, as the tow truck drivers start to pick up the damaged cars, I wave them off and start to pick up all the cones and signs, but still telling the drivers to stay back. I then head over to the other side, and grab those cones as well, leaving the road almost clear, as the tow trucks pull away.
"CE-1 will be leaving scene shortly." I say into my shoulder mic and head back to the Magnum, still blocking the road until CI-1 leaves.
