SEV-1, S-1, BLS-1 due

As we approach the fair the traffic starts to get very heavy. One car won't move out of the way, I honk the horn about five times along with the horns of the squad he finally moves. As we move past him Karrignton see's he's on his phone. Up ahead is the multi car smash, I can see the lights from a fair way back. I grab the radio:Guys, I think we will have to drive down the median strip" I pull over to the median strip and have a pretty easy drive. We go past lots of cars with their angry drivers. Just before the crash a car decides to drive down the median strip with us. Pretty quickly an ERT police car stops him and allows us to pass. As we get to the crash we wave to the TVFD and continue to the state fair in pretty clear traffic. except for the few who don't move out of the way. Our horn fixes them. I pull up to the fair to a large group of on-lookers. I press the anti-theft device and get out of the SEV. "Alright, everyone get 10ft back" I run back to the SEV and grab the ALS Bag. ((Guys, I got to go to school, I'll be back in a couple of hours, Don't make too much stuff happen ))

*Hearing the tones on the radio, I look at Richardson*

'Lets go, I'll drive'

*As I get into the truck I pick up the mic*

"Basic 1 is enroute from Quick Mart."

*As I back the truck up, I flip the master switch for the lights on and turn on the siren as we merge into traffic*

'Hey, Richardson were starting to get into some heavy traffic, be ready on the airhorn in case somebody tries to turn into us.'

*I say as I watch a car that is following us.*

'Check out this moron behind us, trying to get through traffic by following us.'

*After watching that car for a few minutes, he/she finally turns off*

'I see the fair grounds up ahead.'

*As we pull in I flip the switch for the sirens turning them off*

'There's the girlfriend right there'

*I then pull up next to the girl and exit the truck*

"Basic 1 to dispatch: Be advised we are on scene"

I drive past a few cars onto the trulit interpass, traffic is getting way worse. 'Dammit!' I play with the manual wail and Q siren to get cars moving. About thirty seconds later I see emergency lights ahead and traffic is almost coming to a hold.

I turn the squad onto the shoulder and shut the siren, I then come to a stand still and see several ERT patrol cars and TVFD working on the pile up.

'What are we gonna do Lt? It's a mess, civilain cars to the left of us, pile up ahead and more cars backing up..'

(I'm just gonna ease this slightly, posting here to allow your units through, if that's OK.)

I saw the Squad parked up, trying to get through the few civilian cars we were letting pass on the Shoulder, I stepped in front of the cars trying to turn on and held up a hand, holding them back, with the other I started to wave the Squad through, down the shoulder past the pile-up.

SEV-1 on-scene. We got through a bit easier that you larger trucks. We will, we wait for you guys, and orders from the commanding officer. SEV-1 waiting on scene. I put the ALS bag in the bonnet, and start controlling the crowd, while Karrignton check stability around the gutter.

*I hop out with out my gear on cause I didn't have a chance to put it on. I figure i'm going to check the scene before I get it on in case we need to rope him out. I walk over to the drain to size up the situation then I grab my portable.*
"SEV-1 to S-1 were on scene advising patient is about 10ft. down appears to be no access panel victim is alert responsive appears to have no life threating injuries standing by until you arrive."

(we posted at the same time but I dont think they work together)

*Looks at dave, and places all of the items in the basket on the floor*
'Good F*ck timing!'
'I was looking forward to snacking on those!' *laughs*
*Walking out of the shop, people watch as we act like maniacs rushing to the ambulance*
*In the ambulance i get ready for idiots driving, to cut us off with the air horn*


*Arriving on the scene i grab my Medic Bag from the back of the truck, and my hi-vis jacket*

'I'll buy you some snacks before we head back to quaters'

*I say while laughing.*

*I walk over near where Moon is*

'What do you think Moon?'

"Yeah SEV 1 we're not going to make the median. If you get there before us check out the scene, BLS 1 get medical details from the girlfriend." I say. I switch the selector to the PA system, "Ladies and gentlemen this is the fire department, please try and make some room on your right so we can get through." I say and see the car infront of us give us the finger. I pull the airhorn and repeat my request, more cars follow suit and make room. Florian accelerates down the shoulder. We reach the end of the accident and get back onto the main road then find an emergency lane crossover and we pull a Uturn and follow the road back until we get to the fair grounds. Before the truck fully stops my door is open and as the truck stops I'm out. "BLS-1, status?"

'LT, girlfriend states he is sure he hit his head and might be bleeding. And he said he has a few abrasions on his forearm.

'She isn't sure what he was doing when he became stuck'

*I say as I walk over to Raven*

*As I approach the hole I'm not sure of how stable it is so I stay a few feet back and raise my voice to talk to him*
'Sir this is ERT:FD were going to get you out we just need you to remain calm until we can make sure it's safe.'

MAN: 'Okay I'm calm just help me please I dont want to die down here.'

'Sir your going to be fine were getting a plan together right now.'

MAN: 'Okay'

'Sir I need to ask you a few questions to make sure we can treat you when we get you out do you understand.'

MAN: 'Okay'

'Sir do you have any bumps cuts bruises bleeding anything we should know about'

MAN: 'Uh yeah I hit my head when I landed I can't tell if it's bleeding.'

'Okay do you remember everything that happened or did you pass out.'

MAN: 'I was awake the whole time'

'Okay thats good anything else we should know about you allergies meds your on any conditions.'

MAN: 'No nothing'

'Okay hang in there man we'll get you out.'

*I walk over to Dave.*
'Hey I just talked to him he said he hit his head didn't lose consciousness and doesn't think he's bleeding no allergies not meds.'

*Turns to Cressler*
'Does he not want any food or snacks to throw down there, while he waits? he could be hydrated or hungry'

'If he has possible spinal injuries he needs to make as little movement as possible.'

*Raises eyebrows*
'Oooh right, i didnt hear he had spinal injuries, if this is the case i better get set up'
*Leaves bag where im standing now*
*Goes back to ambo, uncuffing the spinal board from the ambulance, and grabbing 4 blankets*

'I don't know what the situation is down there lets not give him anything just yet.'
* I walk back towards the hole.*

Sir: ' I need you to sit still and try to move as little as possible in case you hurt your spine do you understand me'

MAN: 'Yes I'm sitting on the side now waiting'

'Well she said he hit his head, so we must assume he has back and neck injuries.'

'Thanks Moon for the info.'

"Basic 1 to LT Raven, per SEV patient has no allergies and no meds, not sure if bleeding or not."

"Thanks Cressler," I say and turn to Lafferty, "Set up for when we get the guy out, get ready to treat for shock." I say and walk over to the hole, when I'm about 4 feet out I drop and crawl over and peer inside while Cressler is talking.


I back away from the pipe and grab my lappel mike "Squad 1 to COPA, we have a male late teens early twenties stuck in a courregatet metal pipe, no apparent injuries as of yet." I say "SEV 2 find the outlet for this pipe and get in the bottom, Davis get over here, 50 feet of rope and a roof ladder." I say and scoot back to the hole.

'Will do LT'

'Hey Richardson, since you got blankets i'll get the cot and we will stand-by over here and wait for them to bring the patient up.'

*I say as I grab the cot from the back of the truck and push it over to the stage area.*

'Ok, so you don't think we will need spinal board?'

'Nah, Fire will already of immobilized him to bring him out.'

'We will just use their spineboard and give them one of ours'

*I say as I notice some guy who keeps staring at our truck*

'What you staring at?'
*Looks over to where dave is staring*

'That guy is sure taking a liking to our truck.'

'He probably thinks we have drugs on it'

'That will be a nice surprise for him'

*I say with a chuckle*

'Hey Lt. were SEV-1 but okay I'm gonna throw my gear on and go find the entry for this. Hey Lt he said he hit is head on the say down we might need the Backboard or stokes and rope him out.'

*I walk over to the sev and throw on my turnout gear but I put my RR helmet on instead of my normal helmet no need to wear that bulky thing in this tunnel. Then I grab a crowbar,light and walk down the street to find a manhole and pop it open. I grab my portable.*

"This is cressler I found the manhole about 15 feet down I'm gonna descent in and crawl up the tube towards the man."

*I descend into the manhole and think hmm good thing it hasn't been raining it's pretty dry how did this guy get here anyway. I flip on my light and get on my hands and knees and start crawling up towards the man I get to his feet relatively quickly. I'm not sure if this will make it up top but I grab my portable and talk into it.*

"Lt. I'm at his feet appears to be no injuries on the lower half from what I can tell I have no blood no bones"

*I think to myself hope that got out*

(TSD should be arriving shortly to get witness statements and what not of the event as well as seal off the area, he won't bother touching it more than likely, howeverI like the thinking)

"COPA To scene, need an update on rescue ops"

*laughs at dave*
'It has my wallet in it'
*Looking at him, and back to dave... i wonder if i should go take a look*

'Don't worry I hit the door locks after I got the cot out'

*I say while watching the rescue effort*

'Oh Thanks'

"Cressler to command it looks like we might be able to get the sked around him to get him out theres no way we'll get the backboard in here."

(BTW Cressler were supposed to send a gas monitor down there first to check the levels before i get any of my guys down there)
'Lets start setting up some rigging and ropes and figure out how to get him out and get a gas monitor down there before we send anything else'

"Rodger Lt. We can do this in character. Lt. told me to come down so I came down it's a drainage tube not a sewer tube there shouldn't be any gas."

(you two should figure out who's in charge so I know where to get my orders from)

(He's in charge I just am going by my protocols for my department)

"Recieved Cressler I was confused on what it was. Sorry about that"

I walk over to Ewan

'Lt you want me to go down with my man Cressler and try to get the guy out? Hes going to need more man power.'

"No problem Lt. for future you won't find corrugated pipe in a sewer you don't really want ridges stuff won't flow. Anyway can I get a sked down here if I slide it from down here someone on that side should be able to grab it and get it under him then we can get him in it thats the best mobilization were going to get in this pipe."

(Oh wellll i'm to lazy to edit but I wont do it again why does he have the title officer if hes not technically an officer...oh well but got ya)

"Right now my plan is for you two to get below him, and we're going to grease the tube with some soap, so if you could get the OB kit out of the squad and bring it over here. SV one get below him.

"Rodger I'm in place I don't really see the need for another man though I'm in here pretty tight if i was any bigger i'd be a stuck as him"

'Copy Raven, I'll grab some supplies.'
*I get a roll of 50 ft rope and lay it on the ground. Then I grab the roof ladder and bring it over to Raven, along with the rope. I put them on the ground.*
'Ok, everything's here, we just need the OB kit. What do you need me to do?'

"Davis secure me and I'm going in on the ladder" I say putting on the harness. I secure myself and secure teh rope to one run the other through the rungs of the ladder. I go in head first with the soap and use the ladder for support. "Ready up here" I say "Cressler grab the guy's legs."

"Roger got him ready to move"

(I was wondering who he was referring to I'm just an HRES officer thats why Ewans in charge)

(no offense but I think they should take officer out of the HRES position unless your a LT. it's confusing haha)

I use the soap to grease the sides.
"I'm losening up man." The boy says.
"Davis hoist me up." I say and I come back up. I back up and get a small jack, then get lowered back in. I prop the jack on the pipe and Davis pumps the foot jack and the pipe starts to bend. The man slips out slowly into Cressler's hands.
Davis hoists me back up to the surface as Cressler brings the man to BLS-1.

'Thanks Cressler'

*I say as I put the patient on the cot*

*After Richardson and myself put the patient in the back of the ambulance.*

'Richardson, i'll let you ride with the patient'

*After the patient is all ready for transport I get into the drivers seat.*

"Basic 1 to dispatch: Be advised we are enroute to EDC non-emergent"

*I say into the mic as I turn the lights off and start toward the hospital*

*After and uneventful trip to the hospital we pull into the ER entrance.*

"Basic 1 to dispatch: Be advised we have reached our destination EDC"

'Dave I got one for you I'd collar him up but he seems fine. Here you go man there gonna take care of you I told you i'd get you out of there do me a favor don't stand on any more grates.'
*I walk away with a chuckle and head back to the sev. I take of my helmet and throw it on the back seat. I see TPD approach and taping up the scene looks like they got the scene now. I grab my mic unsure of where raven is.*
"Cressler to command you need us to wrap anything up here or are we clear?"

( did it really go that quick?)

I look into the ambulance as they start to treat the man for shock. I look away and take off my helmet. "Squad one and SEV-1 clear. BLS enroute to hospital."
