New knive [Counter Tac II]

I just orderd a new knive for my collection,
the Coldsteel Counter Tac II

What do you think of it?

Its designed for self defense, but I'm just buying it for my collection

in the USA we have like no laws on lasers...atleast for another year or so thats why i ordered it now haha

We do..the Counter Tac II is just legal I believe, but you cannot carry it with you on the streets.

All lasers are illegal in The Netherlands except for laser pointers I believe

yeah in the usa there still completely legal haha but probably not for much longer

Personally, I find that a knife is a strange weapon for a "regular" citizen to carry for self protection. Knife fights are among the most deadly things a human being can encounted, as the damage a knife can inflict is horrendous to say at least. In my opinion, a baton or a Taser is a more viable weapon as it is both non-lethal and less dangerous if your opponent manages to overpower you and aquire the weapon to use it against you. A fight is also over much quicker if you apply a Taser or baton than if you stab or slice your opponent with a knife...

No foul towards Jansen as he only a collector, just a general observation.

Batons are a lot more dangerous for three reasons, it takes more to deter the attacker with a baton, as it is weaker, it is a pain in the ass to beat someone silly with a stick, and three the damage it inflicts might be so minimal somone might get carried away with it and hurt someone a lot more, or end up charged with excessive use of force because they'll keep going to be safe

A tazer has the main downside of if it goes on to someone with heart troubles, they be going down, and there's a good chance not getting up ever.

A knife on the other hand has the scare factor, it shows you mean business, and one jab in the arm or a nonvital spot is enough to get them away. The best weapon for protection is a gun. You shoot someone, they will know you're serious

I agree, but I also disagree. A knife is a show of force and business just as much as it is an invitation to close physical combat. While self defense always is a matter of seriousness and close contact, a knife is a weapon designed to kill, not to subdue.
An unskilled combatant using a knife is no more equipped to be the winner of the fight than equipped with a baton. A baton, if used properly and with training put behind it, is as dangerous as a knife and much less likely to kill or seriously maim an opponent.
Arguably, the sound of a collapsible baton being extented is just as threatening and affirming as brandishing a knife.

I agree on the Taser being dangerous to people with heart conditions, but if an assailant has a bad heart, he should take that into consideration when starting the fight. Remember, self defense is not about escalating the fight but rather the opposite...

A firearm is a whole other level. It is arguable the most decisive show of force and most deadly weapon, but it can't be compared to a close combat weapon like a baton or Taser. A firearm is designed to kill, much like the knife, but in a much more decisive way.

I guess knowing where the major arteries are is important. If you have a knife or firearm, try to get 'em in da capillaries haha. Now a laser, You might as well buy a glow stick with it and call it a lightsaber lol. It could blind someone but you could some years for that.

I don't think I'll consider any lasers available to the public a self defense weapon. Maybe one of those laser cutters they use in industrial environements, but even that's a stretch!

Hannahan: knowing the location of arteries is important if you goal is to kill your opponent. Self defense by a regular citizen should not incorporate taking life in my opinion... That is for the military and law enforcement to handle.

if you realllly think that come visit me i can temp blind you in about a second if i hold it there any longer it'll start to cause permanent damage i was playin with it today and i took of the glass it comes with the reflection from my wall about 8feet away was enough to hurt my eyes for about 20 minutes

Haha allright, I don't doubt your abilitites with the laser or the capabilities of it.
I just won't buy one for my personal protection, let's leave it at that.
