This happend at an intersection just south of my station in Columbus OH. Luckyily none of the fire crew were severely injured, but the drivers that hit the engine need to go to the hospital.

Depends on the departments policy. Because obviously neither of them properly cleared the intersection, or checked if anything was coming. I suppose the buildings at the corner didn't help that though.

during the day they probably couldn't see each others lights and couldn't hear each others sirens it probably wasn't that hard to do.

Yeah, especially when you have your sirens blaring and your headset on.

I just had to renew my evoc, and my instructor showed video of this accident. The 2 companies were going on 2 different calls in the same area, and there was a challenge between each of two hook and ladders of who could get to the most calls, and get clear the fastest. Obviously niether won. Also if you watch the video they show one of the two trucks hiting a civilian and keep on going.

no huthison, thats not what i was told, we learned about this in school, they were going to the same call, it was an automatic alarm, a block or two to the right of the camera, one truck that turned right was the main truck as the one that was coming this way had the " secondary water", they did both have sirens going and thats probably the main cause why they crashed, as hannahan said
