Re: Random Hang Out Topic
We got a new E-350 today. Well I say we, the Mena crews got a new one with a Q and airhorns along with our normal whelen siren. I think that was a complete waste of money, first off I hate Q's and airhorns are a complete wast of time on an ambulance. I barely run code anywhere we go, just do to the fact that people are stupid and won't move and if you blast airhorns at them they can freak out and cause a wreck etc. Yes, I am againtist running hot unless it is a true emergency. I will not endanger myself, my medic, patient, or the general population just to play with the sirens. I got into it with a medic the other day over that, no sense in running lights/sirens at 3 in the morning when were less than a mile from the call.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Yeah, I'm not a dick with the air horn and eq2b. I only use the eq2b on the highway when there's traffic, so I rarely even use that. And air horns I only use at busy intersections when people won't stop or move when there is room to move.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Yeah, I like our Whelen. I'll use that airhorn but that's about it. I just really don't like running hot. Never know what the morons will do. Lol. And I should have clarified I don't like them on the E series. I want us to get either the F series or the Chevy ambulances.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Are regular siren is a Federal Signal PA4000.
And I generally use the sirens as little as possible. Mostly just at intersections. If the roads are empty or have little traffic, I won't use them much, if somebody doesnt want to move, then they get some siren, maybe a little electric horn.

Our back-up truck/basic truck has a PA4000 in it. I want to run out of that so we can use it. I'm trying to get our owner to put dual sirens on our trucks, all of them have two speakers we just need the control head.

I haven't done EVOC yet, but my service we do an annual training every year and refresh skills and we redo EVOC every year. I actually think it's a good Idea to do it every year.

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Our ambulances have PA-300s I think w/ airhorns. They use them, but not in a rude way. Most of the calls are along Route 30 or Route 41, and 30 is also the route to the hospital. Traffic is usually pretty busy, so it makes sense.D. Lafferty wrote:Our back-up truck/basic truck has a PA4000 in it. I want to run out of that so we can use it. BTW, I visited the station today, wow! The trucks look nice from up close haha...they're bigger than I thought, especially the ambulances!

Re: Random Hang Out Topic
Wow. so a Papa Johns just opened in my town, and I love papa johns and the nearest one is, a few town over.
So I'm walking down to papa johns to go get a pizza, and I see a bunch of police cars going down the road.
I get to papa john's only to find out that some A-hole had to rob them and gun point, so now I cant get pizza in a downtown full of coffee shops and overpriced restaurants. Guess I'm having ice cream for lunch.

this is true lol, we don't usally run code except for the first out runs 3 then the second either 2 or 3 after that its 1 for the most part. So we don't really use them any way as this is third out for a brush fire.

Everyone keep Missouri Highway patrol in your prayers. They have lost two of their own. One was killed on vacation when he was rock climbing and feel about 2500 feet. And, another is still missing while searching in flood waters.

I should play Sims, that's a fun game.
I'm a firefighter explorer now, had my first meeting yesterday. Learned about MCIs, how to administer oxygen, and stuff about triage. The chief got us a pizza cuz there were only 5 of us there.

1? For the COUNTY? We have more than 10. And at least 4 different services. Then again, our county is almost as large as Rhode Island. They've got around 200 sq miles on us.
